“There is no better to learn from than the Divine Juliana! The wealth of knowledge, the space to ask questions, and the wonderful guest teachers are beyond measure. The time spent in the Spine Intensive not only applies to how I frame movement in yoga classes, but how I move my body through life as well.

Cannot recommend enough!!”

- Sarah Powell; Yoga Teacher & Artist

The spine - the nexus of your body - is the fulcrum of all movement.

It's the central channel through which Prana flows between Self & Universe.

Cultivate an informed way to adapt asana for individual bodies based upon an understanding of how spines actually moveDive into the psycho-energetics of the spine and explore the way the spine interfaces between the world within us and the world around us.

To INTIMATELY KNOW THE SPINE is to open more fully to Yoga's depths.

Knowledge of the spine yields savvy, safer and more confident Yoga teachers.

You will love the empowerment that comes with understanding the:

  • 7 movements of the vertebral column
  • spine’s structure's & weight bearing curves
  • interface between our nervous system & energy body

Learn to adapt the practice for specialized needs, including those with:

  • scoliosis
  • herniations
  • arthritis

“If you are going to put your words in your student’s ear about how to move the body, you should make a life long study of how the body moves.”

- Judith Hanson Lasater

"I highly recommend The Spine Intensive for Yoga students, teachers & all movement or Anatomy enthusiasts.

As a 500 hr. CYT & Registered Nurse, I was drawn to this program for the comprehensive view of Yoga Anatomy mixed with Somatic Embodiment.

Connecting to the spine as a focal point of movement & awareness transformed my practice & teaching. It's now organic to incorporate the Spine’s 7 Movements into my classes & it provides a structure to create more balance, stability, & ease.

This program gave me tools to ease my nervous system, helping me rest in the natural curves of my spine & inspiring me to adjust movement patterns that previously caused discomfort or pain. I'm in an ongoing exploration of my spine! I'm empowered.

Juliana’s love of learning & passion for teaching inspires me to keep learning & growing. I'm so grateful.

- Abby Parker, Nurse & Yoga Teacher

“Your teachings and presence have ignited a spark within me. I am so full of gratitude.“

- Harpinder Mann, Yoga Teacher

"Juliana has had such an impact on my journey as a teacher. She honors the ancient Indian roots of yoga, and still manages to be at the forefront of teaching us how to offer our students life changing practices.

I'm so thankful my path crossed with this wise, inclusive and transformative yoga community."

-Seema Ranchhoojee, Yoga Teacher

“Juliana makes hard-to-grasp topics both accessible and interesting. She has a knack for teaching anatomy.”

- Jodi Epstein, Yoga & Pilates Teacher

PROGRAM DIRECTOR & LEAD TEACHER

Hi! I’m Juliana Mitchell (she/her). I'm the director of Living Now Yoga & director of The Spine Intensive. I'm a yoga student, a yoga teacher and a yoga therapist (C-IAYT).

The Yoga practice came into my life when I was a child, via my mom. I took my seat as teacher in 2004 and have had the privilege of teaching teachers for the last decade.

In addition to leading anatomy intensives and several teacher trainings, I teach private classes to practitioners with arthritis, herniations, varying causes of limited mobility, pregnant humans, persons with pelvic floor dysfunction and more.

My personal practice emphasizes seeking to live the Yama & Niyama and includes daily Pranayama & meditation. My primary teachers include: Judith Hanson Lasater (with whom I've studied since 2006) and The Yoga Sutra of Patanjali.
